What is Happening
to our Honey Bees?
The honey bee's population is being negatively affected mainly through a couple of ways. Firstly, the honey bee population is being damaged because of a possible NATURAL event occurring within the population. They are being hurt by by the "Colony Collapse Disorder," which is an event where many worker bees are killed away from the hive. There is no confirmed issue that is killing the honey bees. Researchers have only found a number of factors that MAY be conflicting with the honey bees. Unfortunately, since this is possibly a natural -as well as an unknown- cause, it is difficult to achieve a solution that prevents this problem from occurring.
Another main issue that is severely harming the honey bee population is the use of pesticides. The worker bee will have to travel between a number of plants and many of which may include the use of pesticides. Pesticides are a leading cause into the endangerment of the honey bees, but there is a simple way to prevent this issue. Every pesticide is unique into the prevention of certain or general types of bugs. Many pesticides includes a statement that shows what the pesticide is mainly directed to. Some pesticides will specifically say that it does not harm the bees, therefore saving many bees. The carelessness of the human population would presumably take the path that simply says to just get rid of all bugs that is infesting their plants, therefore using a general pesticide that kills all bugs. Due to this factor, it has contributed much into the elimination of the worker bees which a colony requires to survive. Without the worker bees a colony cannot gain food, therefore killing a whole nest which may include thousands of bees!
